An Artist, an Actor, a Teacher and a Writer and a bit of Restaurateur thrown in, makes up the “Who“ of Amy Lake. As a professional writer for businesses, it was a natural progression to display her art in the Coconut Barrel Artisan Market and write their blogs! But, acting, painting, teaching and writing have long been her energy.
A family full of artists provided her with a way of life and theatre and playwriting brought her into the wider world of imagination and fantasy. Amy and her husband, also an artist, owned a 1927 opera house in which they produced and directed 20 plays a year, had a children’s theatre company, showed movies, put on concerts and comedy shows and served patrons delicious foods from a small restaurant in the lobby! When the theatre was passed on to the next owner, Amy and her husband went on to own an old school house that was converted into a Bed and Breakfast and restaurant along with an art gallery and performance center in the old gymnasium.
By the time the sunshine of Florida called, Amy was creating whimsical art and writing biographies, marketing pieces and blogs for restaurants, auction companies and postal services.
Along with her writing, Amy creates brilliantly colored pillows, paintings with funny characters and flower portraits with eye popping paints. Having a small space in an Artist’s Market such as the Coconut Barrel is a dream come true for Amy and she is excited about writing the stories of all of the Artists, their classes and the many events that are planned!
